Bailey O’Neill, an 11-year-old student at Pennsylvania’s Darby Township School, suffered fatal injuries due to an on-campus incident in January 2013. According to CNN, O’Neill’s parents claimed that their son was bullied by his peers.
O’Neill was punched during a bullying incident that left him with a concussion and other serious injuries. On March 3, 2013, O’Neill died in a medically induced coma.
“This is an ongoing, active criminal investigation,” Emily Harris, spokeswoman for the Delaware County district attorney’s office, told the news source. “We are reviewing all aspects of the school incident.”
School surveillance footage shows that bullying activities took place on campus, as O’Neill was attacked by three aggressors. School officials and local authorities will continue to investigate the incident as they search foranti-bullying solutions to help prevent future problems on and off school grounds.
